A Recipe For Christmas All Year Long
I dedicate this short poem to all those willing to read it, Christians and non-Christians alike, in hopes they will remember that in this life everything is finite, temporary and ephemeral.___________________________________________
As Earth spins, so we spin through timewe are each, in the end, destined to turn pureno being is Being, yet by being we areopen those seams and you see only light.
Now here is a recipe that I think it’s just fineonly need to find a pot, wood for fire and some timeget a little parsley, sage, rosemary and thymethen gently dump in a big can of peas.
After which take a heap of child-like wonderso as to make us open up our eyesin front of the unexpected gifts in lifethat make each day for us a surprise.
Then mix in a dose of fond appreciationfor all the people whom we knowbecause just like festive Christmas candleseach one of them has a special glow.
Take a cup of tradition time-honoured and dearadd a generous portion of holiday cheerthen sprinkle the blend with joy unsurpassedand set it to rise until the steam comes by past.
Then add some giggles with a little laughterand also a dash of fine Christmas foodit is amazing how a piece of piecan wholly improve our soul and mood.
Now warm it up with human kindnessand wrap it up in love and peacethen decorate it with some optimismso that our joy will never cease.
The table is spread and the kettle is shinedand over the rafters the holly is twinedthe wind whistles sharp and the branches are brownbut serenity, peace and contentment abound.
Hear now the sledges coming by with the bellsand the world of joy their melody foretellshear how they tinkle and tinkle and tinklewhilst all the stars in the Heavens seem to twinkle.
The meaning of Christmas is to all now so clearit represents all that’s to us very dearit does unite all the world aroundwith its melodic and merry sound.
Thus if we use this healthy recipe nowI’m so sure we will know ever how to rememberto be always cheerful and in the Christmas spiriteven the time when it is not December.
