Gearing up for the NAR Convention

Hilton, Astrida and I are getting ready to leave for San Francisco on Wednesday. I am so excited because we went to the National Association of Realtors Convention in 2003. It was in San Francisco as well and we had a blast. 2004 was in Orlando so we skipped it. We went to Orlando earlier that year for a mortgage finance convention…and didn’t really like the city. I personally love going to conventions. It’s great to meet people in your business from all over the country…or world. Not to mention the education courses, panel discussions and trade shows are killer. There is always something new to know. The 2003 convention was when I was first introduced to International Brokerage. Hilton and I had sat in on a panel discussion about International Brokerage. What was great was that they were

all woman, with their own companies and they were all very cool. I was intrigued by their stories of searching for hotels to buy for their clients in Morocco and listing castles in France. I was hooked. I still keep in touch with one of the Brokers on that panel, Angela Eliopoulos of Global Owner Property Consultants. So, now we are returning two years later and I get to accept my CIPS designation award at the “International Night Out” Dinner. It is a black-tie affair at the San Francisco Marriott and supposed to be a great time. They expect 800 attendees from almost 50 countries and it always sells out. PLUS to top it off we are staying through Halloween (Yeah!). Hilton is going to be an Exterminator. Astrida found him a dark blue jumpsuit and had it embroidered to say “Pest Control - What’s Your Poison?” He has always wanted to get one of those pesticide sprayers and fill it with a concoction we call Boneshine. So, by default I am going to be a mouse. Astrida is making me mouse ears and a cheese purse. She’s working on a hot pirate outfit. Should be cute.
